A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Ann Pritchard Therapy.
I work as an Integrative Therapist, which means that I'll adapt my approach to be responsive to your individual needs and the issues that you bring. I offer a friendly, safe, confidential and non-judgmental space in which we can explore your personal issues and feelings, helping you reflect on your experience and looking at how this impacts on your thoughts and feelings and where it sits within your body.
I work with both adults and young people in Bournemouth, Poole and surrounding areas in Dorset. For more information visit my Therapies page.
The work we do will vary, you may want space to discuss a particular issue or you may have decided to spend a longer period of time exploring aspects of your self or your past or present. It may be that you don't really know what you want to work on, just that you recognise a need to seek a space to process and explore.
Should you wish to, I can incorporate some Mindfulness techniques into our work, helping you develop your own understanding of how this may support you. I use a relational approach, based on the idea that strong and fulfilling relationships with others can help people strengthen and maintain emotional well-being. Although family and friends can be supportive, we sometimes experience difficulties in our lives and find speaking with a trained professional can help us make sense of challenging times and begin to understand ourselves and our feelings better. This insight can help us find our direction and sense of purpose.
I offer Supervision to qualified and in-training Counsellors and to Counsellors working in a school setting.

Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a counsellor my role is to provide space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.
My approach to therapy is a person-centred one. This is a non-judgmental way of working, where the counsellor creates the right conditions to help someone increase their self-awareness and reach their fullest potential.
Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Grief, loss or bereavement
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
I provide short, medium or long-term therapy from my practice located in Redhill, Bournemouth and Broadstone, Poole. I also see clients from the surrounding areas in Dorset. I will provide location details when we arrange our counselling sessions.
Sessions can be face to face or online via Zoom/phone.
